About the Power of Change project
The Power of Change Project was conceived and organized in Fall 2015 by Lexington High School (LHS) student Christi Lee for the purpose of mobilizing teens to social action. Teens are often overlooked, not taken seriously, and labeled as ineffective. The Power of Change is an easy means for teens to become involved in activism and philanthropy: teens can make a difference. Mobilizing teens across multiple communities can collectively propel impactful change.
Why hunger? Many people today, especially those living in mid- to upper-class towns, are oblivious to hunger. Yet the reality is that hunger affects countless lives in Massachusetts -- 1 in 9 is food insecure in Eastern Massachusetts. Despite the need, many, especially youths like us, feel powerless to do anything about the issue. Unlike a cure for cancer or assistance for disaster victims, which might take years of medical research for the former and thousands of aid dollars for the latter, the results for hunger relief are immediate and meaningful with a mere $1.00 providing 3 meals to the hungry.
Join the Power of Change Project! By accepting the 50 Cents Challenge, you can provide 1.5 meals to a family in need.
