Empowering Teens to Help the Hungry
The Power of Change Project works with communities not only to provoke awareness of a major social issue but also to raise money for food banks and organizations that combat domestic hunger.
The goal of the Power of Change Project is to educate people, especially youths, about domestic hunger issues and to mobilize them to act. To accomplish this, we've issued the "50 Cents Challenge”. The rationale behind the challenge lies in the fact that it is easier to ask many people for a small amount than to ask a few people for a significant sum. As part of the challenge, individuals are asked to fast for a day or alternatively, give 50 cents (or more) . Students challenge others via word of mouth or social media to donate. We have started the challenge at schools and in communities throughout MA – educating students and empowering them to affect change.
If you are a teen, get involved! Please donate or volunteer. Look for collection boxes in classrooms around your school. If your school is not yet participating, contact us. We'll tell you how to bring the challenge to your local school. For more information, go to our sister site at http://www.lets-go-power-of-change.weebly.com or click on the button below.

Take the Challenge
Challenge your friends, family, school and community to accept the 50 Cents Challenge.
The goal is simple: everyone donates 50 cents to the Power of Change Project to fight hunger.
Every 50 cents received provides 1.5 meals. Collectively, we can make a huge difference in the lives of families in need. Imagine a school of 2,000 students with each student contributing 50 cents. That school will have raised $1,000. Now, imagine ten schools joining the challenge. Ten schools with each student donating 50 cents results in $10,000 for hunger relief. Together, we can make change with change!
Even better, if you are interested in organizing a challenge at your school, we’re happy to help. Contact us, and with your collaboration, we'll launch Power of Change at your school.
